Adult Men’s Softball Rules and Information (as of 9/21/07)
1. There will be a team entry fee. The entry fee with a roster of players must be in our office by 5:00pm on the deadline. A schedule will not be made up until there is at least six teams entry fees & rosters in the athletic office. A team will not be placed on the schedule until the entry fee has been paid.
2. All softballs will be furnished by the teams. Approved ASA 12” Softballs with a .44 core. Each team must supply two NEW game balls at the start of each game.
3. Uniforms. All players must have matching jersey’s with a number on the back. No one is allowed to wear steal spikes. No one is allowed to play bare footed.
4. The season: We propose to play each other twice.
5. The roster limit will be 25 players per team. No player may be on more than one roster.
a. Any team may pick up players at game time. These players must remain on the roster for the rest of the season. If a player moves or gets injured he may be removed. You must turn in a roster of your players with the entry fee.
b. Once a game has begun with borrowed players a protest for ineligible players will not be honored.
6. Eligible players. They must be 18 years old or older. They must live or work full time (30 hours) in Camden County. The age control date for adult softball is August 1st of current year.
Underage players: Each team is allowed two players who are 16 or 17 years old. These players must have a parent sign our athletic registration form with the waiver of liability. Which may be obtained at the front desk of the REC Center during normal business hours. Underage players are not allowed to play in the GRPA Adult Tournament. If an ineligible player is found on a team, all games the ineligible player played in will be forfeited.
a. Adding players: New Players: any team may pick up players at game time. You must report these players to the supervisor at the field before game time. These players must remain on your roster for the remainder of the season. If a player moves or gets hurt he may be removed from the roster to make room for another player. The roster will close at ½ point of the season. No other players may be added at that point unless approved by the athletic director.
b. Borrowing players: This is strongly discouraged. But in the event it does happen once a game has begun with borrowed players a protest for ineligible players will not be honored.
7. A team must have at least 8 players to start a game. If one team has 8 players and the other does not the game will be a forfeit. Once a team has forfeited the team may pick up players to play a scrimmage. The officials are not obligated to call a scrimmage. A scrimmage must be stopped when the next game time is ready. Teams having less than 10 players to play must take an out for any missing players.
8. Home team is the team listed second on the schedule. Team lineups must be given to the scorekeeper 10 minutes prior to game time. The line up must consist of first and last names with jersey numbers. Remember the scorebook is the official record of the game. If the information is not correctly recorded then we will not be able to judge a protest if one should arise. This is also proof someone played in the game. The scorekeeper is very important.
9. Scorekeepers: must be provided by the home team. In the event the home team does not have someone to keep score and the visiting team has a scorekeeper then the home team will be reversed. Whichever team is keeping score for the game will be considered HOME team.
10. A normal game will consist of seven innings. Game times will be 6:00p, 7:00p, 8:00p. Game days will be Mondays and Thursdays. In case of rain a complete game will consist of the completion of the losing teams at-bat in the 5th inning.
11. The game time limit is 1 hour and 15 minutes.
12. Run rule is 20 run lead after 4 innings, and 12 run lead after 5 innings. (ASA)
13. The first game of the day only has a ten (10) minute grace period.
14. Tie games: There will be two extra innings played at that time. After these two innings if no winner has been determined then the game will end in a tie with the score being recorded as ½ game won and ½ game lost for each team. USING the ASA tied game procedure. Each team should update themselves on this tied game procedure
15. Rainout games will be made up only if they have a bearing on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place standings.
16. Forfeiting games: after a team forfeits three times without giving the athletic staff 24 hours notice that team will be dropped from the league.
17. EJECTIONS: A coach or player who is ejected from a game must sit out the remainder of that game and the next scheduled game for their team. Any player or coach who gets two ejections will not be allowed to play the remainder of the year. They are done for the season. They are not eligible to represent Leisure Services on a tournament team.
18. Unruly behavior will not be tolerated. If there is a question or problem, the coach only should call time out and calmly discuss the issue with the umpire. The BOSS on the field is the umpire. If a player or coach so much as touches an official in anger or threatens to do him/her bodily harm, they will be banned from the league for an period of time to be set by Leisure Services. Team Managers/ Coaches are responsible for their players and their spectators.
19. No smoking of any kind is permitted in the dug outs or on the playing field before, during or after the game. No tobacco products of any kind, no alcoholic beverages of any kind are allowed at the ballpark before, during or after the games. No profanity at any time.
20. Home runs per game rule is as follows: Each team will be allowed one home run per game. All other home runs during the game will be treated as singles.
21. Equipment: ONLY ASA approved bats will be allowed. Make sure you have legal bats. No player can play without shoes (barefooted). No steel spikes or metal may be on the shoes.
22. Awards: A team trophy will be awarded for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers. The team with the best record will be the winner of the league. In case of ties winner will be determined by Head to Head play. If still tied there will be a one game playoff.
23. Protest must be done by the correct procedure or they will not be considered for deliberation. The umpire-in-chief must be told of the protest at the time of the infraction and noted in the official scorebook. (before the next pitch) ( please be aware of the correct times to protest different infractions.) The protesting team has by the end of the next business day 5:00pm to get a written protest stating the rule that was violated and a $50.00 protest fee to the athletic department. The protest will be acted upon within 72 hours. If the protest is found to be valid the protest fee will be returned. Any judgment call by an official may not be protested. It is the responsibility of the team and coach to know the rules. Any game that has had players borrowed from another team will not be allowed to lodge a protest on an ineligible player.

25. All practices must be scheduled with the Athletic Department. Fields are available but may not have the correct base length or fence length. Field Lights must be turned off by 10:00pm. There is a city curfew Monday thru Thursday of 10pm. Each team is allowed to practice one night a week under lights if the field is available.
26. Once schedules are finalized and given to the teams no games will be moved. Anyone needing to cancel must give us 48 hours notice.
27. To contact the athletic staff use your email please. Make sure we have an email for your team so that when changes or questions occur we can get the info to everyone. The Athletic office email is ccpsaathletics@yahoo.com
28. There is a Zero Tolerance policy in effect. Make sure you give a copy of it to all your team members. One slip of the tongue sends you home. You must have each player read the policy and sign the roster stating that they read the policy.
29. No special rules for women playing. They will play at their own risk.
30. Lights for practices: Each team is allowed one time a week with lights. You must fill out a park reservation sheet and have it with you when you practice or have a copy of an emailed permission from the athletic staff with you at your practice. A staff person will be checking teams that are practicing with lights to make sure they have reserved that practice time. If a team is caught practicing with lights without reserving the practice time they will be dropped from the league and their entry is forfeited.
31. Dugouts: the only people allowed in the dugouts are the team players, the coach or manager. No spectators.
32. GRPA TOURNAMENT Representation: With the Spring League Leisure Services will enter the winner of the League in the GRPA District tournament slated for the July 20th or 27th of current year. Once this team is enter in this tournament there is a $150 dollar forfeit fee if they do not show. So if we enter your team then they must participate. We can enter more than one team if others are interested. You must let us know if you want to be entered by May 29th of the current year. If you are interested you must have an official roster from Leisure Services to play. To get this roster you will have to provide us a roster with full name and date of birth on each player during the league play. Before the season has finished you must provide a copy of each players drivers license. We must have these to type the OFFICIAL Roster.
33. The rules and registration form may be obtained from the athletic office during normal business hours. A complete roster of players must be turned in at your first game.
