Children Ages 7-8, 9-10, & 11-12 can register for Tackle Football.
The child must be 7 by September 1st of the current year and not turn 13 by September 1st of the current year. No one is allowed to waive up to an older age group.
Weight requirements in these age groups are as follows:
The player who meets the regular weight requirement is allowed to run the ball. If they are over the regular weight limit then they are not allowed to run the ball.
7-8 up to 95 lbs..… over 100-125 lbs must be a down lineman
9-10 up to 120 lbs….. over 125-150 lbs must be a down lineman
11-12 up to 140 lbs…. over 150-180 lbs must be a down lineman
Tackle Football has CONDITIONING WEEK. Players who have not registered may not participate in the conditioning week. We will not allow the coaches to allow a child on the field without a receipt from Leisure Services or your name being on the computer printed roster for each age group. If the player is over the Down lineman weight limit for an age group they must speak with the Athletic Director about other possibilities to participate in the football league. NO EXCEPTIONS. The athletic department has to be aware of these players. Don’t wait to weigh a player at OPENING DAY. Conditioning week will usually be the week after registration ends. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR YOUR CHILD TO ATTEND THIS CONDITIONING IN ORDER FOR THE COACHES TO KNOW THEY WANT TO PARTICIPATE AND PUT A FACE WITH A NAME.
Each city will condition at their football field site except Kingsland which will condition at HOWARD PEEPLES PARK on Gross Road due to construction at Kingsland Lions Park. The week consists of five days of running and exercise for the football players without the players being dressed out in their football equipment. The coaches will run the players thru drills from 5:30pm to 7pm each evening. Then in August a coaches meeting is scheduled to draft teams. This is a blind draft and the coaches do not see the names of the children until after teams are chosen. You should hear from your coach within one week after this draft. There is a Mandatory Play rule and all players who register will play.
The Sites for conditioning are as follows: St. Mary’s players will condition at the St. Mary’s Rec Authority Park. 7-8’s at field 2, 9-10’s at field 3 and 11-12’s on field 1.
Kingsland players will condition at the Howard Peeples Park. 7-8’s on field 2, 9-10’s on field 1, 11-12’s on field 1. Woodbine will condition at Woodbine Hwy 110 Community Park. 7-8’s on baseball field, 9-10’s and 11-12’s on the football field.
