Food Pantry forms due by April 14th! This has been changed!

Due to the nature of the groceries being sent, we have to have a number one week sooner than usual…so please have your forms turned in by April 14th!
…In case you were curious, there will be frozen chicken in the grocery bags : )

The next mobile food pantry will be at the REC Center on April 28th.
The way it works is….we and agencies working with us distribute forms that have to be filled out and signed by the participants. The forms have to be turned in to the REC Center one week (USUALLY, but this time its 2 WEEKS) before the mobile pantry is scheduled, then we notify 2nd Harvest of the number of families that need food. They order the food and a truck brings it to the REC Center on the scheduled date, and then the truck is unloaded and the groceries are evenly distributed into paper bags. It takes a few hours to get everything unloaded and bagged up, so food is usually ready to be given out around 1:00pm. Then agencies come and pick up the food (usually 1-2 bags for each family that turned in a form) and distributes it to the families that have turned in forms.
We need volunteers!
We need agencies that will be responsible for passing out and collecting forms and then making sure that the food is distributed to everyone they collected forms from. An agency can be anyone–a church, day care, apartment complex, etc… you just need a way to deliver food. We can always use extra hands to help unload the truck and bag groceries as well.
This program is geared towards low income families. There are income requirements put forth by the America’s 2nd Harvest Organization that families have to meet to be able to get food.
